University of Copenhagen, Denmark – Fully Funded PhD Positions – September 2023

The University of Copenhagen has many open PhD positions in various streams including Chemical Biology, Computational Biology, Protein science, and more.

The University of Copenhagen, often abbreviated as UCPH or KU, is the largest and oldest university in Denmark. Founded in 1479, it has a rich history and is known for its academic excellence and research contributions.

The University of Copenhagen has many open PhD positions in various streams including Chemical Biology, Computational Biology, Protein science, and more.

1. PhD fellowship in Chemical Biology at the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology (Strømgaard lab)

The Strømgaard lab is highly focused on the combination of chemistry and biology and is used in the research of therapeutic peptides. They are focusing on the development of modulators for protein-protein interactions and providing, molecular-level insight herein.

The position is one of eleven PhD positions in the Horizon Europe-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) Doctoral Network IDPro (project 101119633), intrinsically disordered proteins in health and disease: mechanisms, molecular context, and opportunities for drug discovery.

“We are looking for one 3-year PhD Fellow in Chemical Biology. The fellowship is available from 1 January 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.”

Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology

Deadline: 29 October 2023

2. PhD fellowship in computational biology at the Globe Institute, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences

They are currently developing statistical methods to facilitate the analysis of high throughout analysis data. Past projects focused on the methods in population genetics, such as demographic inference, population structure, and signatures of selection but also methods within medical genetics with a special emphasis on the direct application of these to low-coverage data and ancient DNA.

PhD candidate will work in within the Korneliussen group and the computational team at the center. The focus of the PhD is the development and implementation of novel statistical methods for the analyses of DNA sequencing data.

We are offering a Phd fellowship in computational biology/bioinformatics commencing January 1st 2024 or as soon as possible.

Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences

Deadline: 08 October 2023

3. PhD Position in Protein science at the Structural Biology and NMR Laboratory (SBiNLab), Department of Biology

They are focused on the research on the interaction of IDP and IDR with other molecules.

The candidate should have a strong interest in pursuing a PhD degree in the field of protein science with a focus on IDPS and IDRs. The position is one of eleven PhD positions in the Horizon Europe-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) Doctoral Network IDPro, Intrinsically disordered proteins in health and disease: mechanisms, molecular context and opportunities for drug discovery.

Paternity Test: DNA Fingerprinting, Definition, and Types

Wed Sep 27 , 2023
A paternity test using DNA is the legitimate method to identify a person's biological father. It is a widely accepted method by law for clearing paternity disputes. These tests can be done with any biological material containing DNA, but preferably blood tests and swab tests are generally used. Technically this method can also able to determine the father of an unborn baby.
