The IMPRS “Principles of Microbial Life” in Marbug, Germany has open positions for their PhD program in 2024 for Interdisciplinary research in modern microbiology. This PhD program (IMPRS-µLife) collaborates with the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology, the Center for Synthetic Microbiology (SYNMIKRO), and the University of Marburg.
Program Details
The goal of the program is to show students how microorganisms may be used in biological systems and synthetic biology while also giving them a basic knowledge of the cellular mechanisms that enable bacteria to compete, adapt, and differentiate in their natural surroundings. This requires the integration of quantitative and biotechnological methods with the environmental, cellular, and molecular elements of microbiology. They investigate microorganisms in the following research areas: bacteria, fungi, archaea, and microalgae.
