Pipeline Overview
Amgen is currently navigating a “disciplined data generation” year with several high-stakes assets moving toward commercialization:
-
Metabolic / Obesity (The “MariTide” Era): The star of the pipeline is MariTide™ (maridebart cafraglutide). Unlike existing GLP-1s, it is being tested for monthly or even less frequent dosing for obesity and Type 2 diabetes. 2026 is a critical year for Phase 3 data and manufacturing scale-up.
-
Oncology Expansion: Following the 2024 approval of Imdelltra (tarlatamab) for small cell lung cancer (SCLC), Amgen is pushing for earlier-line treatments and exploring its “BiTE” (Bispecific T-cell Engager) platform in other solid tumors.
-
Inflammation & Dermatology: Rocatinlimab (a first-in-class anti-OX40 antibody) is in Phase 3 trials for atopic dermatitis, aiming to provide long-term remission for patients.
-
Neurology / Rare Disease: While Amgen isn’t a traditional “neurology” giant, its Rare Disease unit is advancing Uplinza for Myasthenia Gravis (recently approved in Europe) and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP).
-
Biosimilars: Amgen remains a leader here, with 2026 updates expected for its biosimilar versions of Opdivo (nivolumab), Keytruda (pembrolizumab), and Ocrevus (ocrelizumab).
