Pipeline Overview
Oncology, neuroscience, and immunology remain central to Lilly’s longer-term strategy, even as they are currently overshadowed by the commercial success of its metabolic franchise.
Key pipeline highlights include:
- Orforglipron — An oral GLP-1 agonist that demonstrated superior glycemic control across multiple Phase 3 trials in type 2 diabetes and obesity, with global regulatory submissions planned.
- Retatrutide — A triple agonist in Phase 3 trials that has shown weight loss exceeding 25%, figures previously seen only in bariatric surgery.
- Imlunestrant (Inluriyo) — An oral SERD that in Phase 3 reduced the risk of progression or death in second-line ER+/HER2− metastatic breast cancer, both as monotherapy (in ESR1-mutated patients) and in combination with Verzenio regardless of ESR1 mutation status.
- Pirtobrutinib (Jaypirca) — A non-covalent BTK inhibitor that produced positive Phase 3 results in CLL/SLL patients previously treated with a covalent BTK inhibitor.
- Genetic Medicine / CAR-T — Lilly is acquiring Orna Therapeutics for $2.4 billion, whose lead programs apply in vivo CAR-T therapies targeting autoimmune diseases and cancers.
