A one-size-fits-all strategy to protein purification is no longer practicable, given the development and transformation of the mAb market, notably the recent rapid emergence of biosimilars. To solve this, Cytiva created two new protein A resins, the MabSelect SuRe 70 and the MabSelect PrismA X. The different stages of drug development require different purification needs. These new resins offer affordability without sacrificing quality. Sofie Stille Cytiva has expanded its entire protein A resin portfolio with three new resins, providing clients with additional alternatives to lower manufacturing costs and boost flexibility while keeping the high-quality standards they expect. The necessity for cost is especially important at the purification stage of preclinical or clinical manufacture, where no more than 20 batches are conducted. Meanwhile, in commercial production, speed and performance are critical. Sofie Stille MabSelect resins are based on agarose, a renewable raw material that aligns with Cytiva's environmental goals. Since 2022, Cytiva has owned its agarose manufacturing and processing facilities in Denmark, which is near to the Swedish resins manufacturing site. Cytiva has also taken steps to strengthen its supply chain security by opening a second production site in North America.
